*UPDATE AS OF JULY 22nd, 2024*
As instructed by the CDC:
Starting on August 1, 2024, dogs entering or returning to the United States that have been only in dog rabies-free or low-risk countries in the past 6 months must meet the following requirements:
- Appear healthy upon arrival.
- Be at least 6 months old at time of entry or return to the U.S.
- Must have a microchip that can be detected with a universal scanner to identify them.
- Complete the CDC Dog Import Form.
The CDC no longer requires a veterinarian to fill out the Import Form. There is also no requirement for proof of Rabies vaccination for dogs travelling from low-risk countries.
However, proof of Rabies vaccination will be needed for dogs returning to Canada from the U.S.
