Dr. Karnikaa Katyal DVM

Veterinarian

We are so excited to welcome on new OVC grad, Dr. Karnikaa Katyal, to the Ilderton Pet Hospital veterinary team!

Karnikaa was born in India and grew up in Dubai before moving to Canada at the age of 10 with her family. She found a great respect and love for nature and animals watching Animal Planet with her father when she couldn’t fall asleep as a child.

Karnikaa majored in Animal Biology with a minor in Mathematics at the University of Guelph before graduating from the Ontario Vet College with honours in 2023. During her studies, Karnikaa enjoyed serving as the president of the DVM student government (CVSA) and playing goalie for the women’s hockey league.

For Karnikaa, the most rewarding aspect of this profession is the problem-solving nature of veterinary medicine, caring for animals, connecting with the community, and working within an uplifting, supportive team. Her special interests include diagnostic pathology, pain management, integrative and alternative medicine, and working with animal shelters.

In her free time, she can be found spending time with her family, partner, and friends or cuddled up with her sweet and sleepy dog, June, who was rescued from Mexico. Karnikaa’s other hobbies include reading, exploring, nature, star-gazing, and playing sports.

Karnikaa is very happy to be back in her hometown of London, Ontario and is looking forward to working within the lovely community of Ilderton.
